We got to the con somewhat early Saturday morning, ready to take more photos. While Mike went to park the car, I warmed up with some hall shots on the gazebo level. It is not often that I am at a con primarily to take photographs, so it took me a bit to get into the zone.
Once Mike got into the building, we met back up with our photographer friend Dan and did a shoot with our friend Sara. Sara was cosplaying as Fairy Sailor Mercury (based on a design by No Flutter).
These behind the scenes photos are courtesy of Dan. We were using a pink geled speedlight to create the colored background. I am holding the main light in a softbox.
Then we did a shoot with our friend Kenna who was cosplaying as Prince Adam from the live action Beauty and the Beast.
There was this period-looking sideboard in a hallway that we thought we could make look like an 18th century setting.
We also tried this mirror shot. It took some doing to frame out the very modern looking hotel in the reflection, but we managed to get it to a point where I could clean up things in Photoshop without too much trouble.
After that we wandered around taking more hall shots down on the atrium/fountain level.
In the afternoon we did a shoot with our friend Jennifer, who was cosplaying as Rey.
We continued to practice our lightsaber edits. By now I felt like I had hit my stride with a good technique.
We were shooting in a tight corner behind a piano in the hotel lobby.
Then we wandered down to check out the vendor area. We also got a couple more hall shots there.
We ran into several friends chilling at the tables in the vendor room, and hung out with them for a bit. Then we went back up to the gazebo level to wander and grab some more hall shots.

We finished the day with a quick shoot with Natasha and Heidi. It was great to shoot with them at Katsucon, as we had missed them at a bunch of previous cons.
We were basically shooting in the corner of a gift shop. You can see a rack of clothing right next to us in this behind the scenes photo. It was a small space, but we made it work! (Photo courtesy of Kenna.)
