I went to Gadsby’s Tavern Jane Austen Ball last night with Maggie, Isabella, Janine, and several other lovely folks. I haven’t been to an event with set dances since 2010, so it was a little mind boggling to just jump in there. But the caller was good, so I was able to muddle along. The Tavern Museum is a lovely setting, with a beautiful period ballroom complete with an upper gallery for musicians. The live music was very enjoyable. There were lots of pretty outfits to admire, although period clothing was not required. I look forward to attending other events at Gadsby’s in the future.
I wore the one regency evening gown I own, the same one I used for my Napoleonic court outfit at Dress U. This time I removed the lace trim from the neckline and wore a ribbon sash at the waist. I had strung a new pearl necklace that got its first wearing, along with some drop earrings that I converted from pierced to clip on, plus I wore my recently finished stays, but otherwise nothing new.
All of my photos are here.
