Knightmare Batman and Catwoman at Baltimore Comic-Con 2018

Sunday of Baltimore Comic-Con was one of the rare times that Mike and I cosplayed together. Mike debuted his Knightmare Batman costume, based on the Rules of Engagement arc in the Batman comics, issues 33-35, written by Tom King and penciled by Joelle Jones. We made this cosplay to match my Knightmare Catwoman costume that I already had. Most of it was done using purchased materials, although we did make the chest armor. The cowl is by Ryan Eaton Creations.

Here are a couple photos I took of Mike.

Since both Mike and I were in costume and we wanted photos of us together, we took this opportunity to do a bunch of shoots with other photographers. It was a lot of fun for both of us to be on the other side of the camera for a change. I really enjoyed seeing all the different ideas and approaches that each photographer had about composition, lighting, and posing.

Here are some great shots by Sam from Fantasy N Cosplay. He chose to work indoors with us in an atrium area that had some concrete stairs. He relied mostly on the ambient lighting.

I like the neat spotlight effect that Unlimited Crossroads did here. We were standing in a shadowy hallway, and he used one hand to aim a flashlight at me, taking the photo with his other hand (while also holding the end of my whip).

The contrasts of color and sunny highlights really pop in these fun shots by That Guy with the Bat Tie. It was in the middle of the day, and we were shooting on an outdoor garden deck that had ample sunlight.

These next two photos are by S1Price Lightworks. He had us stand in a raised alcove next to some escalators, and had both a flash aimed at us in front and one on a small stand behind. Here the background flash has an orange gel on it, giving a neat desert vibe.

I especially love this second shot, where the flash behind us was aimed back at the camera, giving a hair light/halo effect.

Last, but certainly not least, we worked with the awesome Brad Behles. He had a bunch of excellent suggestions for poses and angles. We were working on the outdoor garden deck again, but the light had changed as it was now the middle of the afternoon.

This pose was based on the advertising art for one of the Arkham Batman games.

This last photo was a request by Mike, to imitate this art by Joelle Jones from Batman issue 33.

I really love the resulting image!
