Awesome Con 2015

Mike and I went to Awesome Con DC again this year. This is the third time this convention has been held, and it has grown exponentially each year. This time they had a lot more space in the convention center, especially in the exhibit hall. We spent a couple hours on the show floor, and did not get even close to seeing everything. But despite the large size and large crowds, I found that we could get around without too much trouble, and we did not have to wait in lines that much, which was great. Of course, we were only there on Sunday, which is usually the least busy day. But we had no issues.

And there were lots of cosplayers! Marvel Comics characters seemed particularly popular, probably because of the recent Avengers movie release. But there were also all sorts of other costumes too. I wore my new A League of Their Own Rockford Peach uniform. (Unfortunately Maggie was not able to join us as originally planned because she was not feeling well that day–but we will have an outing in our Rockford Peach uniforms together another time!) Mike wore his Hawkeye again, which was very appropriate with all the Avengers fans wandering around.

Overall, it was a fun day! I’m looking forward to next year (June 3 – 5, 2016).

Here are photos of the convention generally. I will post photos of our costumes later.

The judges for the group costume contest, which was a little more abbreviated than I expected (there were no masters category entries). But there were still a number of cool entries.
