Mike and I attended Awesome Con DC on Sunday. Wow, this con has really grown from the first year! The space dedicated to exhibitors was larger by an order of magnitude. There were more panels, more vendors, more media guests, and more attendees. It was pretty impressive for a con that started so recently.
First stop was our friend Janine K. Spendlove‘s booth. We wanted to check out how sales were going for her and have Janine sign our copy of Time Traveled Tales. Then I got a picture with Janine. You can just see Jay Justice photobombing us in the background!
Next up was a panel, where Janine led a Q and A with Timothy Zahn. It was really well run and interesting. Both Timothy and Janine are great speakers. At the end of the panel Mike and I were picked (by random number) to win a free copy of Time Traveled Tales. Doh! But we redirected the book to the lady sitting next to us, who unlike us did not already own a copy.
After that we went to a 3D printing demonstration given by Sean McCoy and Natasha Spokish. I had not seen a 3D printer in person before, and definitely I learned a lot. If you have an opportunity to attend this panel at another con, I highly recommend it.
Of course, Mike and I also took a break to photograph our costumes. I wanted to do something easy to wear, so I combined some of my Catwoman accessories (cowl, goggles, whip, boots) with some Catwoman-appropriate clothing (leather jacket, leggings, bustier). The result worked out pretty well.
Mike wore “Lazy Sunday” Hawkeye, AKA what Clint wears when he’s bumming around the house. It’s actually pretty accurate for one of Clint’s outfits in the recent ongoing series. (Note we removed the bowstring so as to adhere to the con weapons policy.)
